Chapeltown Conversations, Cake & Pizza

What’s going on in Chapeltown? What do you want to talk about?
Chapeltown Conversations, 3-6pm this Saturday 24th March

St Martin’s Institute, St Martin’s View (off the top end of Chapeltown Road)

Come and talk with other Chapeltown residents and test out the huge pile of locally-made cakes, Gary’s pizza from Taste, Indian sweets and samosas.

Chapeltown Conversations happen every two months, a regular opportunity talk about the community and the ways in which it can move forward.

The conversations allow relationships to be developed around common causes and provide a platform for exploring, understanding, action and progress.

Who are the Conversations For?

Chapeltown Conversations are not just for the usual ‘community leaders’, elected members and other officials – although they are all very welcome to join us. Chapeltown Conversations are for people who live, work, learn or play in Chapeltown to talk about what matters most and the opportunities that we can make together.

You talk about what matters most to you and others who share your enthusiasm. You set the agenda. Whether it is things for young people to do, bus fares, jobs, housing, policing, bin collections, local business or whatever – you will be able to talk about it.

Bringing People Together

Chapeltown Conversations are based around issues that really matter to local people, and often will work across communities, cultures and ages. Meet your neighbours and find out about their interests and problems. Although we are many different communities, we all share the same space – what we do affects each other and it’s helpful to understand each other better.

Not JUST a talking shop…

As well as bringing people together, the second intention of Chapeltown Conversations is to provide a space where people can find others with common cause and take action together to make things better.

Who is Chapeltown Conversations?

The conversations were set up by a group of individuals and hosted through Chapeltown Development Trust with support from Leeds City Council Area Management Team and Feel Good Factor.

Since they started, people who’ve come along and think it’s a good idea have joined in to help make them happen. Anyone can get involved – the more the merrier! This month’s organisers are Janet, Lotte, Cath, Sue, Pam, Garry, Tara, Riley, Amanda, Kuldeep.
