MK Dons 0 – 1 Leeds United
(Snodgrass 90+2)

A very late headed goal from Robert Snodgrass gets victory for Leeds against 10-man MK Dons.

The Dons threatened to go in front early on, with Aaron Wilbraham stopped twice by Leeds United FC keeper Shane Higgs.

When Jason Puncheon was dismissed for a challenge on Michael Doyle, the gameplay changed to the visitors’ favour.

But it took Leeds just over 45 minutes to take proper advantage, with Snodgrass getting on the end of a Bradley Johnson cross.

After Shane Higgs was injured in the gamae against MK Dons, Leeds United signed England Under-21 international goalkeeper Frank Fielding on the 29th September on an emergency loan for one month.

The 21-year-old comes over from Premier League side Blackburn Rovers.

Casper Ankergren will replace Higgs in goal, with Fielding going straight to the bench.

Leeds United 1 – 1 Carlisle United
(Beckford 30)           (Dobie 75)

Carlisle’s Scott Dobie heads an equaliser to end Leeds’ 15-game winning run at home.

Leeds went in front when Jermaine Beckford scored on the rebound after his penalty-kick was first saved by Lenny Pdgely in the Carlisle goal.

Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott was sent to the stands for protesting about the penalty, given after a tackle by Richard Keogh on Michael Doyle.

Later on Robert Snodgrass could have put Leeds two up but he hit the woodwork, and Leeds paid for the missed chance when Dobie equalised from a Kevan Hurst Corner.

After the game, Leeds United manager Simon Grayson told BBC Radio Leeds: “I thought it was an average performance by us and we probably got what we deserved.
“I don’t think we deserved to win the game – we lacked a lot of sharpness and energy.”

Leeds United 0 – 0 Charlton FC

League One’s top of the table clash ends with both teams sharing the spoils, in a goal-less draw which means Leeds are still unbeaten.

In windy conditions that affected most games held throughout all the leagues, Leeds had the best of the chances early on when Jermaine Beckford shot wide.

Later on Charlton’s goalkeeper Rob Elliot denied the home side’s Bradley Johnson and Jonjo Shelvey missed a chance to put the visitor’s ahead. Enoch Showunmi’s lob summed up the game when it too went over Charlton’s bar.

However, manager Simon Grayson was relatively upbeat after full-time, telling BBC Radio Leeds: “Over the course of the game a draw was the right result.
“The conditions made it very hard for both teams. With the wind swirling about so much it made it hard for players to judge passes and things like that.
“To keep a clean sheet against a team like Charlton is very pleasing too.”

Leeds United 2 – 1 Darlington FC
(Robinson 25,          (Convery 45+1)
Kandol 28)

Leeds held out for a second-round win against a fighting Darlington, whose manager Steve Staunton had to watch the match from the stands.

Visitors Darlington were two down inside half-an-hour, following Leeds’ Andy Robinson’s free-kick and an excellent finish from Tresor Kandol.

In the first half stoppage time, Mark Convery got one back setting up an interesting second 45 minutes.

But Leeds held on, and Darlington keeper Nick Liversedge was shown a red card for near the end after a poor challenge on Enoch Showunmi.

Simon Grayson said afterwards that although a win was what he wanted, the overall display from some of the team wasn’t up to scratch.

The Leeds boss had made six changes to the starting line-up, and told the BBC: “I’m delighted we won the game but hugely disappointed with certain individuals and certain parts of the team tonight.
“Regardless of me changing the team, it was an opportunity to go out and play in front of nearly 9,000 fans who’ve paid good money to come and watch us on a Tuesday night, and we should be going out and entertaining.
“I don’t care if it’s a JPT or Champions League game – I’ve got high standards and what I expect of my team and certain individuals didn’t do that.”
