Santa Claus is Coming to Your Town! Finding Father Christmas in November and December 2009

Looking for Santa Claus in Leeds and around West Yorkshire, November and December 2009.

The Middleton Railway: Santa Trains


At Christmas time Santa will be travelling on all the Steam Trains at Middleton Railway.

Each child will receive a present on the half-hour long round trip, and there will be a hot drink and mince pies for everyone over 13 years!

11.00am, 11.40am, 12.20pm, 1.00pm, 1.40pm, 2.20pm, 3.00pm, 3.40pm (3.40pm train will NOT run on Christmas Eve)

Santa’s Underground Grotto at National Coal Mining Museum

Open from 10.00am – 5.00pm seven days a week.

East Riddlesden Hall: Victorian Christmas Grotto


santa-claus-by-matti-mattilaPerfect for children aged 3 – 13 years, the Hall and Garden will be decorated in a Victorian style, with a Green Santa Claus popping in for a visit alongside his helpers.

Children will receive a gift, adults will receive a minced pie and mulled wine: booking is essential.

Opening times for the Grotto: 12noon – 3.45pm, in 15-minute intervals.

Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway: Santa’s Special Trains

Celebrate the Christmas season with a steam train ride with Santa Claus.

A 55-minute return journey either from Embsay or Bolton Abbey Station (which will have coal fires lit), the Refreshment Rooms will be bulging with mince pies, as will the Buffet Cars!.

Trains leave both stations on the following times, no booking is required:
10.00am, 10.40am, 11.20pm, 12noon, 12.40pm, 1.20pm, 2.00pm, 2.40pm, 3.20pm, 4.00pm
