Exhibitions @ The Henry Moore Institute 2010
Natural Sculptures from the Qing Dynasty Exhibition
Until 7th March 2010 – Gallery 4 of the Henry Moore Institute
Collections of life-like or extraordinarily abstract rocks, these pieces are treasured in China.
Small scale examples known as “scholars’ rocks” come from the British Museum, the Bath Museum of East Asian Art and a private collection and ask the visitor to reflect on what makes a rock a sculpture.
The Developing Process – reveals sculptors education in drawings and photography

Until 2nd May 2010 – Mezzanineof the Henry Moore Institute
The exhibition illustrates the education of sculptors drawing from life, from nature or from the cast from the late 19th to mid 20th century.
With post-war rethinking, the curriculum changed radically but remained equally rigid.
A wide range of material from individual sculptor’s archives examines how sculptors have been taught to see three dimensionally.
