Sports in Leeds

Leeds Carnivals


Every August the Leeds West Indian Carnival – the oldest West Indian carnival in Europe – takes place in the city, have run for over 40 years, and caters for a huge crowd of over 100,000 visitors.

Roundhay Park also hosts an annual Mela Festival, a large Asian festival that also enjoys 100,000 plus visitors.

As well as these, many annual events are held around the city, from New Years’ celebrations through to Christmas markets and services.

Walking Around the City of Leeds

Leeds may be a big and bustling city, but also hosts the huge Leeds countryside walk – which covers a massive 62 mile circular walk around old and rural Leeds.

Just north of the city is the start of the Yorkshire Dales, where you can also enjoy some beautiful scenery while out walking.

Leeds is a hub of religious activity, the city has many religious buildings of all types and denominations. A simple walk through the city will enlighten you to some of the most beautiful and old churches from Church of England to 7th Day Adventists.
