52 Skidoo
A Fats Waller Revival
Friday 23/07/2010
Tickets : £10
52 Skidoo are a three-piece Harlem swing band, that have turned back the clock to play the dazzling repertoire of Fats Waller in the style for which it was written.
They bring back to life the forgotten era of prohibition, speakeasys, vaudeville, tin pan alley, rent parties, stride piano and hot jazz.
Classic favourites like ‘Ain’t Misbehavin‘, ‘The Joint is Jumpin’ and ‘Your Feet’s Too Big’ are carefully woven into lesser known Waller hits like ‘Dinah’ , ‘S’pozin’ and ‘I’m Crazy ’bout My Baby’ to create an authentic 1920/30’s Harlem party atmosphere.
52 Skidoo are:
Howard Jacobs (Orquesta Timbala) – Percussion and Clarinet
Tom Davies (Carnival Messiah) – Vocals
Henry Botham (HB3, RSL) – Piano
‘I must say they are very, very good.’ – Rossano Sportiello, World renowned stride pianist, Italy.
‘They have mastered the essential ingredients of the music.’ – Jim Hession, World renowned stride pianist, USA.
‘Authentic recreations of Fats Waller’s music.’ – Neville Dickie, World renowned stride pianist, UK.
