The familiar, classic verities of the prison break movie are loyally observed in The Escapist, but with a catch: The break starts at the beginning. – Robert Koehler, Variety Aging prisoner Frank (The always excellent Brian Cox) is 12 years into his sentence.

When he learns that his estranged daughter is terminally ill, he and a loose group of misfit concoct a daring escape plan. Director Wyatt reinvigorates the prison-break drama here, by ingeniously spicing together the planning, and the escape itself. The Escapist musters tension that seems insurmountable, before delivering one hell of an emotional payoff.

52 Skidoo are a three-piece Harlem swing band, that have turned back the clock to play the dazzling repertoire of Fats Waller in the style for which it was written.

They bring back to life the forgotten era of prohibition, speakeasys, vaudeville, tin pan alley, rent parties, stride piano and hot jazz.

Classic favourites like ‘Ain’t Misbehavin‘, ‘The Joint is Jumpin’ and ‘Your Feet’s Too Big’ are carefully woven into lesser known Waller hits like ‘Dinah’ , ‘S’pozin’ and ‘I’m Crazy ’bout My Baby’ to create an authentic 1920/30’s Harlem party atmosphere.

An informative illustrated talk from John Gregory, member of the West Yorkshire Bat Group, roost visitor and trainer for Natural England, followed by a walk around the lakeside to observe and listen for the bat species living at Harewood.

Please bring a torch and wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

Child tickets are free but must be pre-booked so we have an idea of numbers.

How To Find Harewood House

Harewood House is located seven miles north of Leeds city centre in the village of Harewood.

By Car: from Leeds take the A58 out of the centre and then the A61 Harrogate Road for just over eight miles. Once on the A61 near Harewood follow the signposts for Harewood House.

By Bus: from Leeds, you can get the number 36 bus to Harewood. This bus runs three times an hour from Monday to Saturday and twice an hour on Sundays.
