Come and get involved in the Big Draw 2010!

Harewood is a venue for the Big Draw in 2010, and will be running fun arts activities all day.

This event will be taking place in the West Garden (Servants’ Hall if wet!).

There will be a charge of £1 per participant.

Global Day is a one day festival taking place across the whole of Harewood, including the House State Rooms, Below Stairs, the Courtyard, the Courtyard Education Suite, the Church, as well as the Grounds and Gardens (Terrace and West Garden).

Find out more about the global heritage of Harewood and its collections, and learn about Harewood’s rich heritage from a new perspective.

Activities for all the family will  include the newly launched ‘Global Trail’ and children’s ‘Global Explorer Trail’, which will help youngsters directly link the global heritage of the collections at Harewood to wider global communities – as well as being good fun!

Events planned include drumming and percussion workshops, dance demonstrations, acrobatics, carnival costumes, a gospel choir and an orchestra, all from the four corners of the globe.

The Courtyard Cafe will be part of the action too, with a special menu celebrating global cuisine!

This event is free as part of Heritage Open Days so come along, bring a picnic for a glorious summer day of fun and entertainment at Harewood!

Spend an evening under the stars watching the classic Dirty Dancing this summer, on the big screen at Harewood!

Last year’s drive-in was a huge success with Grease, and this year Dirty Dancing is sure to be a sell out too!

Gates open from 5.30pm, with the movie beginning as night falls (approximately 8.00pm) and runs for 110 minutes with no interval.

You will need a working FM radio to hear the sound for the movie.

Heritage Open Days celebrate England’s architecture and culture by offering free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission.

Entry to Harewood House, Gardens, Geopods, Bird garden and Grounds will be FREE to the public on Friday 10th September and Saturday 11th September 2010.

Why not bring a picnic hamper and enjoy the day!

The Queen’s Golden Jubilee International Joust
in The Tiltyard

Cheer on some of the world’s top jousters as they clash head to head for H.M. Queen’s Golden Jubilee Trophy.

Watch the drama build through the heats, reaching a climax on August Bank Holiday Monday, when the overall champion will claim his trophy at a spectacular finale.

There will be two smashing heats per day at 12.15 & 14.45 with a nail biting semi-final and final concluding the tournament on Bank Holiday Monday.

And if this isn’t enough excitement, there will be circus acts and our own medieval jester Lord Flame to keep the whole family entertained.

Come early each day and pick your favourite knight in our Path To Victory parade!

Following the Horrid History theme of Tyrannical Tudors, the Abbey hosts a number of events and activities for the whole family!

Make a Crown

Feel like a Tudor King or Queen by making and decorating your own crown.

Times: 10.00am – 12noon and 2.00pm – 4.00pm
This is a FREE event.

Archery at the Abbey

‘Have-a-Go’ archery sessions, run by local group the Panda Bowmen.

Times: 10.30am – 12noon and 2.00pm – 3.00pm
There will be a small charge of £1 for 3 arrows, all proceeds go to Panda Bowmen.
